We follow our two heroines as they embark on a journey to find self. The path they take will make them ask questions about self and their own place in this world. With each step they take and with guidance, the two grow in their self-confidence and self awareness. This is their right of passage, the journey of an unsure young lady into a strong, bold woman.
This AW16 collection is inspired by BALE, the Basotho female initiates and their journey into womanhood. We have included soft fur with the Basotho Blankets. We have settled for a monochrome palette similar to the white clay the initiates cover themselves in and with a touch of red, the colour the signify the end of one chapter in these young women's lives and the beginning of another.
Here is the complete photo shoot by photographer, Viqta Eyambe of the Bale collection featuring the work of PE jeweler, Nam Sokolo. Models: Minx and Lethu; all talent hailing from Port Elizabeth.
